Papantoniou Supermarkets were the recipients of three important awards at this year’s Cyprus Retail Excellence Awards which, for a second year, were organised by Boussias Communications and showcased best practices and business excellence, ingenuity and adaptability in the Cypriot goods and services retail market.
The ceremony for this year’s Cyprus Retail Excellence Awards took place in person on Tuesday 6th July at Lemon Park, enforcing all measures to prevent COVID-19 spread. There was a large turnout of representatives of the retail sector, as well as the overall Cypriot business world. The independent judging committee that determined the market’s best was comprised of leading figures of their respective sectors, each covering the relevant scope of knowledge in the Awards’ categories. All businesses based and operating in Cyprus which have innovative and successful projects in the retail goods and services market were eligible for nomination.
Papantoniou Supermarkets received the following awards:
Silver Award in the ‘Store’ category for the new Nicosia Supermarket. The ninth Papantoniou Store opened in Engomi at the end of 2019 and was quickly embraced by consumers. It has a retail area of 3,300 square metres and has been designed in accordance with all European standards in order to provide Nicosian consumers with a high level of service in a safe, contemporary, comfortable and pleasant environment.
Silver Award in the ‘Exposure, Promotion & Communication Activities’ category for the digital campaign conceived in collaboration with Ogilvy Cyprus for the opening of the new Engomi Supermarket. The Supermarkets invested in their digital promotion and, with the correct strategy, encouraged the store’s warm reception by consumers in Nicosia.
Bronze Award in the ‘Exposure, Promotion & Communication Activities’ category for the Papantoniou Baby Club rewards programme that was created specifically to offer the parents of young children more privileges and exclusive offers for their purchases.
The Awards were received by the Supermarkets’ representatives Elena and Andreas Papantoniou who were present to honour the event, thanked the organisers, congratulated their fellow nominees and repeated the Company’s commitment to continue its innovation while remaining faithful to the values that have made it stand out since its first day of operations in 1987.
